Invitation to 120km Bike Ride: 2009 Mt. FUJI Eco Cycling

Japan Cycling Navigator (JCN), an official supporter of Japan Cycling Association (JCA), is pleased to announce that it is supporting the event 2009 Mt. FUJI Eco Cycling organized by JCA (Official site in Japanese). If you a cyclist who enjoy the combination of beautiful scenery of lakes/mountains and cycling around Mt. Fuji for about 120km, this is for you. Starting at Lake Yamanakako as early as 6:00am, you have 10 hours before finishing at where you started. Does it sound challenging? Not really. If you are an average cyclist, there should not be a big problem; you take your time and maintain your pace. INQUIRY AND ENROLMENT

Please contact JCN using an email form and fill in the boxes in the form (e-Mail Address; Full Name; Subject: “2009 Mt. Fuji Eco Cycling”; Inquiry Body.) Note - In order for JCN to assist you best, please include your mobile phone number in the “Inquiry Body”. That would be helpful for communication between you and JCN particularly on the day of the event. Additionally, if you could mention your current and permanent city and country, that would be nice.

Upon receiving your message via e-mail form, JCN will assists you to expedite the process by sending you a fax form for enrolment (prepared by JCA in Japanese along with a note in English added by JCN).

Dates

Now - Fri., Aug. 21: Send e-mail to JCN for enrolment in English. JCN will assist you to expedite the process.
Sat., Sep. 12,12:00pm-4:30pm: Show up in time at the registration desk and pick up participants’ kit.
Sun., Sep. 13, 5:00am-6:00am: Show up early enough at the registration desk and pick up participants’ kit. (See Note under Enrolment Fee below).
Sun., Sep. 13, 6:00am-4:00pm: Ride Event

Meeting Time & Place

5:30am Meet JCN staff at the event location, i.e. Yamanakako Community Plaza.Kirara (「山中湖交流プラザ きらら」) (See the map and locate the spot marked with red in square)
6:00am Departure

Car Parking

Although car parking is available at the Yamanakako Community Plaza.Kirara (300 yen per day for regular-sized car), the parking space is limited (max 200 parking lots). So leaving your car at the hotel you stayed would be a lot better idea.

Ride Plan

Refer tothe map

Start at Yamanakako Community Plaza (red box in the map) at 6:00, go around the Mt. Fuji foot area on road counter clockwise, stop at Aid Stations (total six locations, yellow box in the map) as necessary for toilets, free drink, and possibly bananas, offered to participants, and return to Yamanakako Community Plaza no later than 16:00.

Enrolment Fee

3,000 yen for high school students.
6,500 yen for adults; those who wish to pick up participant’s kit during 12:00-16:30 on Saturday, September 12
10,000 yen for adults; those who wish to pick up participant’s kit on Sunday, September 13. Note: This option must be selected beforehand at enrolment time. Because of the limited capacity of processing in the early morning, you have to pay premium fee. The number of people is limited to maximum 300 participants.

Required Equipment

Bring your own bicycle with light in front of your bike and reflector in the rear. Helmet is required.

Lunch

Bring you own lunch or take lunch at restaurants along the route as meals are not covered by the enrolment fee.

Insurance

Limited insurance is covered by the enrolment fee.

Yabitu Pass-Lake Miyagase Cycling Event Beat Summer by Hill Climb with Road Bike!

If you are a cyclist to enjoy hill climb, this is for you. Start at Tsurumaki Onsen station, Odakyu line, climb Yabitu Pass with ascent of 10%, to Lake Miyagase, where you have lunch at a restaurant and cycle back to where you started.
Tsurumaki Onsen is where a ryokan exixts that was modeled after in a popular film “Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi.”

This was a result of the collaboration between the Foundation of Japan Cycling Association, one of the organizers of the Mt. Fuji Ecocycling event, and JCN.

JCN-organized one day cycling tour is intended to provide urban residents with an opportunity to get away and cycle along the coast, 50km south of Tokyo.

Cycle between Rice Fields ~A Free Guided Tour in Chiba~ (closed)

JCN-organized one day cycling tour is intended to provide urban residents with an opportunity to get away and cycle on rural path between rice fields in Chiba, 50km east of Tokyo. It's free of charge.

Mt. Asama and Komoro Ride (closed)

We JCN aid Cycling Festival ASAMA which will be held by Komoro city government and local volunteers. There's more that we designed the original ride program which will be held on the preceding day.

Hokkaido - a Japanese Island in Northeast Asian Perspective (closed)

Many foreign cyclists visit Japan and other neighboring countries at the same time. So, we are just started to design such borderless cycling route. To build it better, we decided to hold preliminary run in Hokkaido.
