Anrakugoe is very old road dating back to more than a thousand years ago. This is signalized by that one of most famous samurai Hideyoshi Toyotomi (1537-1598) got this route as the line of march. The EXPO RIDE party due to come along new forestry road of Anrakugoe, but old road still remains today on it's side.

Tokaido (東海道)

After descending Anrakugoe pass, the EXPO RIDE party enter Tokaido.

Tokaido once had been one of the most major highway in Edo era. Today it transforms into R1 and has a lot of traffic. The most part of Tokaido never shows signs of relic, but some people are making effort to not destroy the scenery of it.

Hideo Ukai is very famous person among such people. He keeps a shop in Tsuchiyama, former posting station of Tokaido, that the party will come by. His shop house was built 180 years ago and he deals in traditional handicrafts, serve a meal and tea. People who track back old Tokaido on foot invariably call at his shop. Hideo is due to support the party in Tsuchiyama, Shiga prefecture.
