Route into Tokyo from Saitama.

Postby RayB » 2006年Dec月06日(Wed) 23:46

Hello everyone,

I am struggling trying to find an appropriate commuting route from where I live near the Arakawa in Saitama to central Tokyo. I need to get to around Tokyo Tower from Route 17 and the Arakawa.

I do not really mind cycling in traffic as long as it is not to hairy but need help on an ideal route. Any commuting cyclists out there know Tokyo fairly well? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ray

Hello Ray,

Take Toda Bashi Bridge, which is near JR Saikyo Line, then head south along R17. R17 is not bad for biking.

Take Hakusan dori avenue at the junction near Sengoku Station. Hakusan dori is very wide and comfortable for biking.

Then you'll reach at Imperial Palace. Uchibori dori avenue, which is a loop road of Imperial Palace, is also comfortable. Tokyo Tower is right over there.

As for the Arakawa, the right bank is good between Toda Bashi and Hanekura Bashi (R463, Sakura-ku, Saitama-shi). The north of Hanekurabashi, there is a cycling road.

Thanks for that. I will give it a shot. It looks like a direct route. I will use 17 most of the way as I live in Urawa.

Thanks again,

Ray
